the perfect philly pub
Nestled in a short alley a stone's throw from City Hall, McGillin's seems to want to be hard to find, yet somehow it always seems all of Philly is present any given evening. The two-story bar boasts an impressive American bar menu (anything roast or shredded pork is a must-eat), a strong draft list and capable, worldly barmen if you prefer something a bit harder. I was tackled there once by a Temple football alum, my buddy's sister met her husband there at a Philly regatta post-party, I've warmed myself by their comforting fireplace, and I've watched more than one Philly sports miracle on their big screen.If you're downtown and need a cold one, anywhere else will always seem second-rate.
