Heritage Travel, Inc. (“Heritage Travel”) owns and provides the www.Gozaic.com, www.GoWithaPurpose.com, and www.HeritageTravelInc.com Web sites (collectively, the “Sites”). Heritage Travel is a subsidiary of the National Trust for Historic Preservation in the United States (the “National Trust”). The National Trust is not responsible for the Sites.
Please read this Privacy Policy and the Terms of Use for the Sites before using the Sites. By using the Sites you are agreeing to the Terms of Use, which incorporate this Privacy Policy.
Your privacy is very important to Heritage Travel. Heritage Travel has created this Privacy Policy to demonstrate its commitment to your privacy. In operating the Sites, Heritage Travel collects certain information about people who visit the Sites. This Privacy Policy explains the type of information Heritage Travel collects, what Heritage Travel does with it, and how you may correct or change information Heritage Travel may have collected.
Heritage Travel may modify this Privacy Policy from time to time and the modifications become effective upon posting on the Sites. Please review this Privacy Policy regularly to ensure you are aware of any changes made. If Heritage Travel makes material changes that affect personal information Heritage Travel has already collected from you, Heritage Travel will make reasonable efforts to notify you of the changes and to give you the opportunity to amend or cancel your Member Account (defined below) if you have created one.
Information Heritage Travel Collects if You Have Not Created a Member Account
If you visit one of the Sites and have not registered with the Site by creating a member account (“Member Account”), the information Heritage Travel collects from you is limited. Heritage Travel may log your computer’s Internet Protocol (“IP”) address to help diagnose potential problems with its servers, to administer the Sites, and to track usage statistics. It would be extremely difficult for Heritage Travel to identify you from your IP address and Heritage Travel makes no attempt to do so.
If you reached one of the Sites by clicking on a link or advertisement on another site, then Heritage Travel may also log the address of that Web site and other information about your visit. This information helps Heritage Travel maximize the Sites’ exposure on the Internet and to understand the interests of its customers. Heritage Travel collects and uses this type of information only in the aggregate; that is, it is entered into Heritage Travel’s database, where Heritage Travel can use it to generate reports on the Sites’ visitors taken as a whole, or in groups or segments, but not for reporting on individual visitors.
Heritage Travel may also place small files, sometimes referred to as “cookies,” on your computer’s hard drive to maintain the integrity of Site content and to provide you with a better Web site experience. A cookie may contain information that allows Heritage Travel to track your path through a Site and to determine whether you have visited a Site previously. However, unless you create a Member Account, the cookie will contain no information that would allow Heritage Travel to identify you personally. The cookies the Sites place are not designed to read data on your computer’s hard drive or to retrieve information from cookies created by other Web sites. Heritage Travel uses cookies in this manner to help it understand how visitors use the Sites and to help it improve the Sites. You may refuse to accept a cookie by following the procedures specific to your Internet browser. If you do so, you may find that certain Site pages do not function properly, your access to certain services otherwise available on a Site is denied, or that you have to enter information about yourself that you provided previously.
Information Heritage Travel Collects After You Have Created a Member Account
If you create a Member Account, Heritage Travel will collect certain personal information from you (“Personal Information”). Personal Information may include, but is not necessarily limited to, your name, email address, mailing address, telephone number, travel preferences, screen name and password, and contact information for other people that you identify to Heritage Travel. If you choose to purchase products or services or to make a charitable donation through one of the Sites, Heritage Travel may collect credit card or other payment or identifying information to process, or to allow third party service providers to process, the order or donation. By submitting Personal Information to Heritage Travel, you agree that Heritage Travel may collect, use and disclose the Personal Information in accordance with this Privacy Policy and as permitted or required by law, and the Terms of Use. If you provide any other person’s Personal Information to Heritage Travel, you represent that you have the necessary authority or consent from such person to enable Heritage Travel to collect, use and disclose such Personal Information as set forth in this Privacy Policy. The Personal Information Heritage Travel collects may vary over time and based on the manner in which you are using a Site.
If you have created a Member Account, Heritage Travel may store some of the Personal Information in the cookie it places on your computer, so that the Site’s system will recognize you each time you visit. In that way, the Site can save your preferences from visit to visit and present you with a personalized experience, without requiring you to log into the Site every time you visit (as long as the cookie is still on your computer or within an appropriate amount of time). To improve services and enhance personalization, Heritage Travel may obtain information about you periodically from independent third party sources and add it to the Personal Information you provided when creating your Member Account. Additionally, Heritage Travel may update your Member Account to accurately reflect any new information included in communications received from you.
If you visit a Site by clicking-through from a site operated by a company with whom Heritage Travel has a business relationship, and you have registered with that Heritage Travel business partner, then certain information that you have provided to that business partner may be transmitted to Heritage Travel. You should review the privacy policy of the Web site you used to reach the Site to determine what information was collected and how you agreed the Web site could use that information. Heritage Travel does not keep any Personal Information provided by a business partner if you have not created a Member Account. If you have created a Member Account, Heritage Travel may retain some or all of the information provided by the partner’s site. If Heritage Travel retains some or all of the information provided, then Heritage Travel will use it in accordance with this Privacy Policy, regardless of the privacy policies of the business partner providing the information.
Some of the information you provide when creating a Member Account is displayed to other Site members to facilitate social networking within the community using the Site. You also may be able to add content to a Site that will be shared with other members and the general public. For example, you may be able to post, display, transmit or exchange travel reviews, itineraries, photographs, images, video clips, commentary, opinions, and other copyrightable materials or other information, messages or content (collectively, “Member Generated Content”). When you post Member Generated Content you are making certain representations and warranties about it to Heritage Travel and granting Heritage Travel certain rights to it, as set forth in the Terms of Use.
How Heritage Travel Uses the Information it Collects
If you provide sensitive billing information (such as the name on a credit card, a credit card number, and expiration date) through a Site, Heritage Travel will use the information for the purpose of completing purchases you make on a Site. Heritage Travel will use your other Personal Information to provide the services offered by the Sites, to confirm purchases and provide related updates, to manage your account, to contact you periodically with news or important information from one of the Sites, to request your feedback and respond to your questions and comments, to resolve disputes, collect fees, and troubleshoot problems, to prevent potentially prohibited or illegal activities, to enforce the Terms of Use, and as otherwise described to you on a Site when information is collected.
If you have created a Member Account and provided an email address, Heritage Travel may email you additional materials, but only if you specifically agree to receive them. For example, these materials might include newsletters and other materials that you request from Heritage Travel and notifications about special offers. If you agree to receive such communications, Heritage Travel may also use certain information that you provide to present you with tailored advertising that may be of interest to you. Whether or not you have opted-in previously, you may at any time opt not to receive future marketing communications from Heritage Travel.
You may cancel a Member Account by emailing Gozaic Customer Care. A Gozaic Customer Care Consultant will send you an email to confirm your request. Heritage Travel may not be able to remove your information from a business partners’ database if Heritage Travel has transmitted any information to them previously. You will have to contact the business partner directly to have your information deleted by the partner.
Third Party Advertising
Heritage Travel may use third party companies to serve advertisements on the Sites. These companies may use non-personally identifiable information regarding your visit, such as your IP address, pages viewed, date and time of your visit, and the number of times you have viewed an ad, to serve ads that may be of interest to you on the Site and other Web sites. In the course of serving advertisements on the Sites, these third party advertisers may place or recognize a unique cookie on your computer.
Information Sharing and Disclosure of Your Personal Information
Heritage Travel may share your information with suppliers, such as lodging providers, airlines, and car rental companies, and activity providers and destinations, to fulfill your travel reservations or other requests for products and services. Suppliers may contact you to obtain additional information about you or to facilitate your travel reservation or product or service order.
Heritage Travel may provide your Personal Information to third-party service providers engaged by Heritage Travel (such as those providing credit card processing, market research and business analytics, customer service, Web site hosting and other services), in which case Heritage Travel will require those parties to agree to use the Personal Information solely for the purpose of providing the specified services to Heritage Travel.
If you consent by opting in, Heritage Travel may also share your Personal Information with its business partners who offer complimentary products and services. If you choose to access these optional products and services or to receive marketing communications about them, Heritage Travel may share information about you, including your Personal Information, with these third-party business partners. Please note that Heritage Travel does not control the privacy practices of these business partners and recommends that you evaluate their policies and practices before authorizing Heritage Travel to provide your Personal Information to them.
Heritage Travel does not sell or rent Personal Information except as discussed in this Privacy Policy. Heritage Travel may aggregate information from its customers and provide that information in the aggregate to third parties, including advertisers, for marketing and promotional purposes. However, if Heritage Travel does so, the information will not be in a form that will allow the third party to identify you personally.
Heritage Travel generally cooperates with legal authorities and may in some circumstances disclose Personal Information in response to requests from law enforcement authorities, or in response to a subpoena or other legal process. Heritage Travel does not expect this to happen, but if it does, Heritage Travel will use reasonable efforts to provide only the information required.
Heritage Travel may also disclose information about you if it believes it must to prevent a violation of the law, and you consent to Heritage Travel doing so, in its sole discretion. You also consent to Heritage Travel disclosing information about you in the course of legal proceedings if Heritage Travel is legally required to do so, if Heritage Travel reasonably believes that doing so may mitigate its own liability, or if doing so will assist Heritage Travel in enforcing its legal rights. Heritage Travel also may share your information with a third party in connection with a corporate transaction, such as a divestiture, merger, consolidation, or asset sale, and in the unlikely event of bankruptcy. In any such case, Heritage Travel will attempt to obtain reasonable confidentiality commitments with respect to any Personal Information disclosed.
On a Site, your profile may be viewable and you may be identified using your chosen screen name or your first name and first initial of your last name. Heritage Travel will not share your email address with other members nor display it in a public manner unless you authorize Heritage Travel to share it. If you choose to participate in a Site’s member-to-member communications programs, you may be contacted by other Site members using the Site as an intermediary. All Site members will have the option to turn off the member-to-member communication features at any time, or to make his/her member profile private from other members.
How You Can Review and Update Your Personal Information
You can review and update the Personal Information you have provided to Heritage Travel during the registration process on Gozaic.com by visiting your profile in the "My Gozaic Profile” section of the Site, where you can access your account. You may contact Heritage Travel as indicated under “Comments and Questions” below with any questions you have about the use of your Personal Information on Gozaic.com or the other Sites.
Monitoring
Heritage Travel may from time to time monitor and review information transmitted or received through its Sites or posted on them, however it makes no commitment to do so. Heritage Travel reserves the right to censor, edit, remove, or prohibit the transmission, receipt or posting of any information that Heritage Travel deems inappropriate or in violation of Site policies. For further information regarding monitoring, please refer to the Terms of Use. During monitoring, the information may be examined, recorded or copied by Heritage Travel personnel.
How Heritage Travel Protects Your Personal Information
Heritage Travel has attempted to implement reasonable security procedures to protect Personal Information transmitted to Sites and stored in the Sites’ systems. For example, Heritage Travel has implemented a policy to limit access to Personal Information to employees and contractors of Heritage Travel who need to have access to the information to operate the Sites and the services offered through the Sites. If you provide financial information to a Site when using a Site service it will be encrypted prior to transmission. Heritage Travel also protects Personal Information by placing it on secure portions of the Sites that are accessible only by authorized employees and contractors. No data transmission over the Internet is completely secure. While Heritage Travel strives to protect your Personal Information, it cannot ensure or warrant the absolute security of such information.
Guidelines for Children
The Sites are general audience Web sites and are not directed to visitors younger than 13 years of age. Heritage Travel will not knowingly sell travel or other services for purchase by children and will attempt to ensure that the privacy of children is protected. If Heritage Travel discovers a person under the age of 13 has provided any personally identifiable information, Heritage Travel will delete that information from the Sites’ systems. Heritage Travel will not reply to information requests from children under the age of 13, if so identified. A parent or guardian must initiate requests for information on their behalf.
Phishing
Heritage Travel will not request your credit card information, login username or password in an unsolicited email or telephone communication; however this information may be required for verification purposes when you contact Heritage Travel’s customer care personnel directly. Identity theft and the practice known as “phishing” are of great concern to Heritage Travel. Safeguarding information to help protect you from identity theft is a priority. If the Sites link to Web sites outside the Sites, those Web sites do not operate under this Privacy Policy. Heritage Travel recommends that you examine the privacy statements posted on those other Web sites to understand their procedures for collecting, using and disclosing Personal Information.
Spam
Heritage Travel complies with the Controlling the Assault of Non-Solicited Pornography and Marketing Act of 2003 (CAN-SPAM Act). To this end, Heritage Travel
- provides recipients of email marketing and e-newsletters a clear mechanism to opt-out of receiving information in the future
- provides accurate header and subject line information prior to sending any emails
- sends only emails with specific subject lines and a clear indication of who sent the email
- includes its physical address in all email newsletters
